Ms. Jean Nelson, Founder, and Executive director
Jean Nelson has been a trained Montessori teacher since 1968.  She taught in the public schools in the South Bronx and East Harlem before returning to Westchester to teach.  Ms. Nelson has a Bachelor of Arts in English and a double Masters Degree in Education for Montessori and Special Education.

She founded the Bronxville Montessori School in September, 1976 at the West Center Congregational Church location and has taught/administered here since then.  She is currently transitioning into a consultant position at the school.

Mrs. Deborah Bobian, Director
Deborah Bobian has been a part of the Bronxville Montessori School team since 2011.  Mrs. Bobian is an experienced Early Childhood professional for over 25 years.  Before teaching in the 3-6 year old Bronxville Montessori classroom she had previous experience in running an early childhood center.

Mrs. Bobian has transitioned into the position of director at the Bronxville Montessori School.  She is a trained and certified Montessori teacher with a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education, specializing in supervision and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction.

Ms. Liz Vaccaro
Office Manager

Ms. Liz has been with the Bronxville Montessori School for 10 years and has been dedicated to helping maintain the family feel of the school.

Ms. Roxanne Aufieri
Roxanne Aufieri has been part of the Bronxville Montessori School family for many years.  A 1973 graduate of Iona College’s Teacher Education program, Roxanne worked for years as a men’s outerwear buyer traveling throughout Europe and the Far East.  In September 1987, she began her career at the Bronxville Montessori School working in the Toddler Program.  Roxanne soon became an Administrative Assistant to our Executive Director Jean Nelson and in 1995 was named Co-Director of Bronxville Montessori School.

After 34 years of excellence, Ms. Roxanne Aufieri has decided to retire from the Bronxville Montessori School team.  A talented administrator who began as a toddler teacher and later, by applying her extraordinary business skills, served as the assistant director to Ms. Jean Nelson, has left an unfillable spot in the office. She was masterful at meeting the challenges of keeping the school in compliance with all New York State regulations and aiding families and teachers, making everyone feel comfortable as they walked through the doors of the school.  Ms. Roxanne will be missed at her desk, but we are sure she will stop by and bring her wit and laughter through the doors of the school from time-to-time.

With love and admiration,

Your BMS Family
